SMOKE GOES EVERYWHERE! I still have some copies of the King's Kids singing my song, "Smoke Goes Everywhere". They were led by led by James and Ralphine Childs, popular gospel singers from Kingston, NY. The song was designed as a public service announcement and produced with a grant from the Tobacco Action Coalition of Ulster County.
The format of the CD was inspired by the old roadside “Burma Shave” commercials. The CD is broken up into 4cuts varying in length from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Each cut tells part of the story but is also an independent announcement in it’s own right. Stations have the choice of airing each cut in order, or any of the songs independently. At the end of the CD all of the cuts are combined into one 4 minute song. I wrote this song several years ago at the request of smoke free advocates in Dutchess County, who were hoping to pass smokefree restaurant legislation. The song was based on an old C&W standard called “I’ve Been Everywhere”. The Kings Kids extensively reworked the song (with my approval and encouragement), giving it a more modern sound and making it their own.
